AUDIENCE: Surgeons who have not successfully completed the certifying examination. A limited number of senior residents may be accepted.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By participating in this course, you will:

· complete a series of multi-modality pre-tests that will include: a formal communication evaluation, and evaluation of a case presentation and an oral examination;

· participate in didactic sessions that will include: videotapes, physician-patient interactions and oral examinations, current research on the relationship of specific behaviors on oral examinations and, case presentation evaluations;

· participate in small group practice sessions facilitated by an experienced faculty member;

·     take part in post-test sessions, and;

· be evaluated by core faculty who will review with you an in-depth profile of your strengths and weaknesses along with a detailed remediation plan.
